Uncover Church Avenue is a public art competition coordinated by the Church Avenue Business Improvement District. The winning designs will be installed on commercial gates along Church Avenue. The public has an opportunity to vote by picking up a brochure of the submitted designs and casting a ballot for the best design for each of five participating businesses.

The submission includes a design for each of the five businesses (two for Iglesia Pentecostal) around the common theme of “Church Avenue is Alive!,” using stylized icons of native Brooklyn wildlife in bold patterns and colors to illustrate the vibrant and bustling character of the Church Avenue BID.

The success of the DynamicVideo brand refresh was the result of clear direction from the client and a visual vocabulary that was agreed upon early in the process. The redesigned elements include DynamicVideo logo modifications, a suite of supporting illustrations, a printed media kit, PowerPoint presentations and templates, the DynamicVideo website, and a user interface that will eventually be used by DV clients across the country.

The goal of this presentation is to position CNN as the premier forward-thinking, innovative network in the 2011 advertising marketplace. The ribbed background texture, blue glows, white line drawings, and the “hero” logo in perspective give the slides a slick, modern look while the animation adds magic and fun… it was all designed to feel like an app. Individual slides were created in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Flash, and then compiled into custom presentations in SlideRocket.

The goal of this presentation is to position HLN as a place for viewers to get the news along with human interest stories and educated opinions. The dotted background is reminiscent of the halftone printing technique that comprises photos in a newspaper, while the primary colors and friendly typeface (Gotham Black, Gotham Ultra) provide a light, accessible feeling. Individual slides were created in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Flash, and then compiled into custom presentations in CustomShow.

The designs below are from a pitch to CNN’s Chief Marketing Officer and the Creative Director of Marketing and Promotions. The goal was to create an overall look for CNN’s first ever live Upfront event.

The period in the logo implies that CNN is the final word in news and was designed to run throughout all elements, even becoming a TV, iPhone, or iPod screen in video montages. The single, powerful words serve to emphasize that CNN’s reputation is built on many attributes from Honesty to Courage to Passion.

Assuming CNN red would be used in many of the videos and stage elements, the color palette was carefully chosen to support and not overwhelm. The Thesis type family, both strong and friendly, adds an element of humanity while remaining serious and “newsy.”

Consideration was given to the formal invitation (a reporter’s notebook, which could double as the guest’s ticket) and gift bags, as well as environmental graphics, signage, and a step-and-repeat wall for photo opportunities.

The goal of this presentation is to simplify for the average audience the set-up and the results of a study that revealed key findings about the importance people place on recommendations from friends. Each design decision was made in a nod to and to complement the look and feel of Facebook.com, the primary medium used in the study.
